MENOMINEE COUNTY -- An Escanaba man was killed in an ORV crash Friday at 5:50 p.m. in Menominee County.

Ricky John Peterson was on private property 1.3 miles south of M-69 in Spalding Township when he lost control of the ORV going around a curve.

A 12-year-old boy discovered the unresponsive victim at the crash scene and went to the LaBranche Tavern to call 911 for help.

The Menominee County Sheriff's Department says Peterson was not wearing a helmet.

The preliminary investigation indicates speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash.
