We'll be feeling a bit of a warm up Saturday. High pressure moving away to the east is giving us a southerly flow, but there's a cold front on the way that will bring an end to that.

Saturday's highs will be in the low 60s. It may feel warmer if you're in the sun, which there should be plenty of. Winds will pick up out of the south and become quite breezy with sustained winds easily approaching 20 mph. It won't be until the late afternoon to evening that it starts to cloud up in the west with the approaching cold front.

As the front passes throughout the evening and overnight, rain will be likely behind it. The amount of rain will not be heavy, and this could be a problem. We have had very little rain in recent weeks. Our last major rain event was March 22 with just over a quarter an inch of water. With strong winds and low relative humidity, wildfires are a concern. Check out what the National Weather Service has to say about our fire weather conditions.

Otherwise, Saturday night's lows will fall into the 30s, but will likely remain above freezing. Winds will shift out of the west. It will be cloudy and a bit rainy with the passing front, but clear up as it passes.

Your Easter Sunday will see highs around 50 and warmer, cooler than Saturday, but still above average. And lingering rain east should end by late morning. Skies will be mostly sunny, and winds will pick even more than Saturday. Depending on how much rain we receive, fires may still be a danger.

Sunday night should see a small amount of rain and snow off of the lake in the western U.P. with a northwesterly wind. Wind speeds will decrease and lows will fall into the low 30s.

Some lake effect rain and snow may persist through Monday and Tuesday across the northern counties. Otherwise the upcoming week should be consistently seasonal with tempertures in the 40s for highs, but warming up a bit more toward next weekend.

On a note of interest, spring is here and that means that as temperatures steadily get warmer, conditions are more likely for thunderstorms. The National Weather Service is hosting their SKYWARN Storm Spotter training sessions at the end of April and early May. There are several in various counties. During stormy situations meteorologists rely on storm spotters for extra eyes and ears in the area. Check out their schedule and become a storm spotter! I hope to check out a session myself (though I may have a TV6 camera and tripod).
