L'ANSE -- Congressman Dan Benishek continued his U.P. tour, as he made his way to L'Anse Tuesday.  The Hilltop Restaurant held a "Meet and Greet" with the Congressman.

Residents expressed their concerns about the community including education, high school drop-out rates, and higher education.   Another concern by one Baraga resident was the high dependence on government programs.

"I'm a landlord in Baraga County, and I have been for nine years - and the total abuse of the welfare system that I've experienced, I just think enough is enough and for hardworking Americans to be taken advantage of by these people, I just think there's another solution than just handing them cash," said Shelia Osterman of Baraga.

Some of the other issues discussed were medical insurance rates and the affordable health care act.  After the event, those in attendance got the chance to write down their concerns with Benishek's staff.
