ESCANABA -- The Delta County Crime Victims' Rights Week Committee is asking people from the community to send in nominations to honor those who've helped crime victims.

One law enforcement officer and one civilian will be chosen to be recognized during the local observance of National Crime Victims' Rights Week. It's April 22 through April 28. The nominees can be nominated based on the service they've done in crisis counseling and offering victims emotional and material comfort.

"We've had a couple of people bring up a couple of names, so we're hoping that the community responds to this and that we can have a bunch of people to look for," Amy Kehoe, an advocate, said.

Nomination letters, including your contact information, can be mailed to Karen Alvord, Delta County Prosecutor's Office, 310 Ludington, Escanaba, MI 49829. They can also be e-mailed to Betsy Harris, betsy.harris@madd.org. The deadline for submission is April 6, 2012. For questions, contact Betsy Harris at 906.475.9346
