MARQUETTE -- Golfers in Marquette can start working on their swing two weeks early this season, with the help of mother nature.

The Marquette Golf Club plans to open their Heritage golf course this weekend.  Last year, the club didn't open its doors until the middle of April, and because the ground has remained dry for the last month, the course will have golf carts on hand.

Early 18-hole spring specials will also be available to the public.

"We're really excited this is the kind of dream come true for a golf course or a golfer for that matter you know it's great revenue-wise and I think it's even more exciting for the golfers," said Head Golf Professional Marc Gilmore.  "They watched golf on TV now for about three months on the tours and things like that, and I think they're ready when you can get out this early, and start working on your game.  That bodes well for a golfer in the U.P."

The club's crown jewel course, Greywalls, is not scheduled to open until May, when the terrain is ready for cart traffic.
