FORSYTH TOWNSHIP -- Forsyth Township Emergency Management is preparing themselves for possible wildfires. The group got together for a fire simulation and practiced what they would do if a fire ever roared through southwest Forsyth Township and Gwinn.
They went over accountability, evacuation procedures, and food and shelter arrangements for those who would need it. All members of the emergency management team were there, including administrators and financial planners.
"We'd much rather be somewhat prepared for the incident, rather than caught off guard...have a plan, exercise that plan, and test that plan, and we'll correct it if there are any deficiencies in our planning," said Emergency Management Director, Myron Hillock.
The emergency team said communication is the biggest factor when it comes to a life or death situation. After the simulation, the group critiqued the drill and changed anything that needed fixed.
