Puppeteers from the Vertigo Theatre entertained young ones with a puppet show for the fourth year in a row
MARQUETTE -- We all know actions speak louder than words, and that's exactly what many children learned Saturday at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
Puppeteers from the Vertigo Theatre entertained young ones with a puppet show for the fourth year in a row. This time around, the story was about a fisherman who discovers an enchanted prince masked as a fish, granting wishes. The short tales are a way to encourage children to read by giving them the imagination and live show first.
"It gives them an opportunity to hear what the story sounds like; it's very entertaining, it also gives them an idea of what live theater is, not just sitting in front of a TV. There's an interaction of live theater that is very unlike TV because you're a part of it, and you can talk back occasionally, and they do sometimes," said Jeff Spencer from the theatre.
After the show, children could browse books and check them out for a quick read.
