HOUGHTON -- Eighteen-year-old Paden Rothenberger was sentenced in Houghton County Court on Friday for three counts of attempted bank robbery, attempted safe breaking, and breaking and entering with intent.

The judge ordered a teary-eyed Rothenberger to serve 12 months in Houghton County Jail, with credit for 83 days already served.  He will also be placed on three years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution.

Rothenberger plead guilty to the charges last month.  The charges stemmed from the attempted robbery of the Superior National Bank in Chassell and attempted break-in of an ATM at Miners State Bank in South Range which occurred back in October of last year.

Rothenberger's guilty plea in the breaking and entering a building with intent happened at Sayen's Business Supply in Hancock.

Rothenberger’s accomplice Gordon Lewis accepted a plea deal earlier this month and is still awaiting sentencing.
