Trading in all those cleaning sprays for household ingredients you can find in your pantry will save you money. Rachel Sarnoff with Healthy Child, Healthy World says using a lot of chemicals isn't good.
"They have found that the air inside our homes can actually be more, more polluted than the air outside our homes, simply because of the chemicals that we are using, not only in our cleaning products, but also in our furniture and our carpets and our paint," said Sarnoff.
Sometimes there's just so many cleaners, you wish there was just one thing you could invent yourself and clean up everything with. Facebooker Michael Evans writes: "I buy an empty spray bottle and make my own cleaners."
So what are some of the items that can make your house sparkly clean while saving you cash?
Instead of floor liquids, try cleaning them with hot water and white vinegar. The vinegar cuts any grease, mold, or grime.
To get your carpet extra clean, instead of carpet powder, try sprinkling baking soda before vacuuming. Try mixing water, dish soap, and baking soda to get an all purpose cleaner for your countertops, sinks, and even windows.
What about stains?
"You know Dawn dish soap will take just about any stain out of anything. You know, if you got gum stuck on your shirt or whatnot, you put it in the freezer and it will peel off really fast after it freezes for a while," said Rick Hambelton.
