GLADSTONE -- Drivers are still having to wait long periods of time, some up to an hour, at a Canadian National Railway crossing at the top of South Hill Road off US-2.
Gladstone city officials continue to consult with people from Canadian National and the engineers that came up with a $108,000 figure. The idea is to install a signal at the top of South Hill Road. City Manager, Darla Falcon, said that initial amount for the light has been pared down quite a bit.
The signal would warn drivers of a delay.
"Exactly where do we want to put the signal to notify traffic that the train has blocked the road? You may want to seek an alternate route. So we're still working on it," said Falcon.
Gladstone city officials are hoping to have a solid number by the end of the month. Falcon said if it's above their budget, then they'll start identifying where they can get the money to install the signal light.
