MARQUETTE -- Members of the Marquette City Commission expressed their approval of the pending sale of Marquette General Hospital to Duke -ifepoint Monday night. Several members of the commission used their closing comments to speak on the recent news regarding MGH, and the overall opinion was positive.

"Based on what I've read in the press, if the MGH sale does go through as has been reported, we, as a community, again as reported, stand to gain a couple of million dollars, if not more, with regard to increased tax revenue on an annual basis. If this holds true, that's certainly great for us as a community," said David Saint-Onge of the Marquette City Commission.

The commission also saw a number of presentations, including one from the Presque Isle concerned citizens group. The group is working with city planners and officials and wish to see the marina restored.
