ESCANABA -- March is reading month and on Monday, a special guest visited three schools to share his love of reading with the children.
State Representative Ed McBroom's first school stop was at Lemmer Elementary in Escanaba. He made the characters come to life as he entertained the children with a book reading.
Rep. McBroom says reading is critical to the life skills we want our kids to be learning. It offers enjoyment and a chance to learn more about the world around you.
"As I tell a lot of the kids in the class, I was a pretty nerdy kid who loved to read the encyclopedia," said Rep. McBroom. "I learned to read at a very early age, and I was especially fascinated to read about American government, American history, and our presidents."
McBroom also answered questions about state government and explained how it even affects kids from graduation requirements, to bullying, and drug laws.
McBroom also visited with students at Soo Hill and Webster Elementary.
