MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Solid Waste Authority is starting a new service for those looking to destroy sensitive documents.

The program is for small businesses that may have customer records or other documents that need to be destroyed. The papers are dropped off and then transported to a secure facility in Green Bay where they are recycled.

"So now we can recycle the documents, and they're secured, and we minimize the exposure of both the solid waste authority and our constituents," said Richard Aho of Solid Waste Authority.

The service is free; however, if you want manifests that follow the documents through each step in the process, along with a certificate of destruction, there is a $25 fee. The company has asked that metal dividers be taken out of the boxes, while paper clips and staples are fine to leave in.
