LAURIUM -- The Clean Snowmobile Challenge is still underway as students continue to work on their sleds.

On Tuesday, students took their snowmobiles on a 60-mile trip up to Copper Harbor and only four teams made it.

The Michigan Tech team came in fourth place, and they say their sled didn't have any issues, but they didn't get the fuel mileage they were hoping for.

Some of Thursday's events included handling, where the judges determine how the sleds ride, along with an emissions test.

"We have in lab emissions which they run it on the dyno and see how the emissions output is, and then we also have in service emissions which they tow a cart behind it and see the emissions output as it would be going down the trail," said MTU student Clayton Hendricks.

The event will continue through the end of this week, and if you're interested in seeing the clean sleds up close, the next viewing is Saturday in front of the Keweenaw Research Center.
