MARQUETTE -- There are some tired video gamers on Tuesday because a large crowd lined up late Monday night to buy one of the hottest video games around.

The GameStop store in Marquette was one of the stores releasing Mass Effect 3 at midnight. The game is a science fiction adventure game, taking players on a mission to save the Earth and the galaxy.

Video games have become big business in recent years, and GameStop has been busier than ever.

"Over the last 10 years or so, at the minimum, video games have really come full circle from a niche thing that only certain people did into really a public mainstream kind of thing," said GameStop Manager, Bryan Doody.  "Video game sales typically top movies and books and other kinds of media consistently on a year-to-year basis at this point."

GameStop has multiple midnight releases throughout the year with some of the bigger ones being Madden NFL Football and the Call of Duty video game franchise.
