Ninety-thousand people use the Civic Center every year

ESCANABA -- During a recent City Council meeting, the Escanaba Recreation Department's five-year recreation plan was approved. It runs from 2012 to 2016.

The recreation plan is a combination of ideas and needs that would ideally be achieved during that timeline.

Some of the money to fund the projects would come from grant sources.

Ninety-thousand people use the Civic Center every year.

The proposed projects take place at city playgrounds, parks, and trails.

The Civic Center upgrades include making bathrooms more wheelchair accessible and building a second locker room.

The facility serves seniors and youth and has been here since 1967.
