The NMU pendant retails at $250
MARQUETTE -- Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers in Marquette have added a new twist to their signature U.P. pendant.
The jewelers have designed a Northern Michigan University-themed pendant. It’s gold with an emerald background. It was inspired by the original pendant designed when Wattsson & Wattsson opened 26 years ago.
The NMU pendant retails at $250. Fifty dollars of every purchase will be used for a scholarship to benefit a student at Marquette Alternative High School who wishes to attend Northern.
It was about a six month process to design the pendant and get permission from NMU.
"They're very supportive with it,” said Chris Wattson, NMU pendant designer. “They love the idea that $50 from every single sale goes into a scholarship fund for a student to go to Northern.”
The first NMU pendant will be auctioned off at Friday’s NMU hockey game.
