MARQUETTE -- Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Bay Area's annual "Bowl for Kids' Sake" fundraising event started Thursday night at Bowl-A-Rama in Escanaba, and will continue Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday night was Happy Hour Bowl, from 5:30 to 7:30.

The minimum pledge amount was $30 for each participant.

It included the shoe rental, two free games of bowling, and a tee-shirt.  Around 65 people participated.

The traditional bowl is March 3, and Family Day/Kids Hour is March 4.

"The best thing about tonight is actually watching everyone come out and have a good time, and it's all for the kids," said Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director, Tanya Schuster.

According to organizers, $10,000 was raised from last year's Bowl for Kids' sake event.
