MARQUETTE -- Marquette city officials are working to make sure Tuesday's Presidential Primaries go smoothly.
The election differs from previous years because it's an open primary. Registered voters can choose to vote on either the Republican or Democratic ballot.
The ballot preference will reflect the voter's history, but it will not affect any other election.
In Marquette, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at three different locations including the YMCA, the Marquette Armory, and the Baraga Gym at City Hall.
"This is a totally separate election so it doesn't impact August or November and how people can vote. At that point they're not committed beyond tomorrow for the use of that ballot or affiliation with any party," said David Bleau, Marquette City Clerk.
In the August Primary, voters must choose only one political affiliation.
