Snow is the main forecasting concern for Sunday. This will not be a drastic snowstorm, but all of the U.P. should see at least some fresh accumulation, especially over the Keweenaw.
As for Sunday's highs, temperatures should reach over 30 degrees. Skies will be overcast with snow starting in the west in the morning moving east through the afternoon. A few inches could pile up by early afternoon.
The afternoon will be the heaviest snowfall period for the Keweenaw. Strong winds out of the southeast will increase chances of blowing snow. A winter storm warning is in effect until 10 am Monday for the Keweenaw. Winter weather advisories have also been issued for the western U.P.
Sunday night will see continued but lighter snowfall as a low pressure system passes directly over Upper Michigan. Winds will die down a little and shift to a more southwesterly flow. Temperatures will fall to the mid 20s.
Monday will see highs a little colder around 30. Winds will shift from the west to a more northerly flow behind the passing low. Most of the snowfall will end by Monday morning, but there will be some lake effect snow in the north through the afternoon that could add an extra inch or so.
Monday night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the 10s.
When all is said and done, all of the U.P. should see at least two or three inches except in the far south. Three to five inches is likely near Lake Michigan with some lake enhancement, and three to six in the far west. The Keweenaw will be hit the hardest with 7 to 11 inches from Sunday to Monday.
The rest of the week looks seasonal for temperatures with more snow, especially on Wednesday.
