HOUGHTON -- WMTU is Michigan Tech's student run radio station, and on Friday they held an open house to show off some brand new renovations.
Since last August, students have been working to revamp the station. They repainted the walls, changed the lighting and even added a new countertop.
The new layout now allows for the DJs to interact with students who pass by the windows, and the station also got a brand new audio board.
"The audio engine was failing so eventually we would get to the point where we couldn't broadcast," said WMTU General Manager George Olszewski. "We're renewing our license this year, so this year's kind of a big year for WMTU in terms of moving forward into the future."
The station has been supplying the campus and the surrounding area with musical tunes for several years.
The students say with many universities discontinuing their radio stations, they're excited about the new upgrades and hope even more people tune-in to their 24-hour broadcast.
