ESCANABA -- Members of Escanaba High School's Key Club regularly take part in projects to serve the community, and Thursday they helped out at a blood drive.

It took place at the high school gym.

Students 17 and older and some teachers signed up to donate blood for the Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center.

Key Club member, Bryn Beauchamp, said it's rewarding to be able to take part in helping the community.

"We helped check in donors that had previously signed up, and we helped them with finishing donating and recovering after giving blood, and a couple of us donated also," said Beauchamp.

Those who donated blood also received a t-shirt as a thank you for giving the gift of life.
