IRON MOUNTAIN -- The new Almost Home animal shelter will be getting some help starting up from some folks in rehab. Not actual rehab; this is an original play set to open on Saturday, February 25 at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain.
“I have the best cast so far,” says Christine McMahon. “There's been more music this year, and people have come to it before, and they love the music.”
It's a musical comedy that is set right here in the U.P. There are many Upper Peninsula references throughout the play. Christine McMahon wrote and directs the play, her seventh, saying that this is the best cast of characters she's ever had.
“In the play, I play Chip Ellsworth, and I am a pathological liar who is attending rehab so that I can learn to stop lying,” says Jonathan Ringle. “I lie about everything.”
Fifty dollars buys dinner and a ticket for the musical comedy. The music is original, composed right here in Iron Mountain.
“When I'm at home trying to create these ideas, you never know how they're going to work,” says Scott Furlow, “until I come down here and I have this great cast that brings them to life.”
One hundred percent of the proceeds raised at the play will be donated to the Almost Home animal shelter.
There are some adult themes in this play. It's kind of got a PG-13 rating. But all the proceeds do go to a good cause.
