HOUGHTON -- The trial of a Toivola man charged with one count of second degree criminal sexual conduct began Thursday in Houghton County Circuit Court. Forty-eight-year-old Greg Kratt is accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl which occurred while she was at his house back in September.

During the trial, three witnesses took the stand including the deputy who visited Kratt's house after the incident occurred.

“Yes, he stated he did touch her legs,” said Deputy Sheriff Michael Yeo.

“Do you recall him making a statement of what the nature of the touching was?” said prosecuting attorney Michael  Makinen.

“[It was] basically in the context of playing and playful,” Yeo said.

Kratt did admit to touching the girl, and while the prosecution claims the touching was inappropriate and happened more than once, the defense said Kratt did not mean it in a sexual manner.

The trial will continue Friday.
