Cardboard Classic in Gladstone, fun for all

GLADSTONE -- The Delta County Jaycees held their annual Cardboard Classics event Saturday at the Gladstone ski hill, but participation was low.

Last year's event had to be cancelled because of lack of snow.  This year, 21 cardboard sleds entered the contest.

They raced down the ski hill for trophies and ribbons, and cash prizes were given in a showcase category that was based on appearance and creativity.

The classics are a fun family event and not so much a major money maker for the Jaycees.

"It's great because not only are you building relationships within your family, you're building them within the community.  It's something where everyone can get together and have a good time," said Cardboard Classic Chairperson, Cassandra Howard.

"Ratt Racer," Jamie Larson, was the first place adult racer.  Brent Larson was first place in the junior class.
