Sunday will be the beginning of a new warming and mostly dry trend. High pressure is dominating the central plains. As it moves southeast, winds will shift and bring warmer and drier air into Upper Michigan.
Sunday should see seasonal highs in the mid to upper 20s. There wil a few lingering clouds in the morning, especially east, where a few lake effect snow flurries are possible. By afternoon, the U.P. should see lots of sunshine.
Winds will remain breezy and will give the air a very chilly bite, especially north. Sunday night should be very cold with lows near 0 degrees. Winds will lighten up, but clear skies will enhance radiational cooling.
Monday will be calm and warmer with highs at or above freezing. Winds will be lighter out of the west. Skies will be sunny. Monday night will only see lows falling into the mid 20s.
Tuesday, Valentine's Day, will see a low pressure system moving toward the Great Lakes bringing some snowfall to a large area, but models are currently expecting it to remain too far south to bring any real snow to the U.P.
That being said, a few flurries in the southern U.P. on Tuesday night are possible. Daytime Tuesday should be mostly sunny.
The rest of the week will be above average for temperatures. Approaching the end of the week into next weekend, some snow is likely with a drop in temperatures.
