MARQUETTE -- The Annual Indoor Softball Tournament kicked off Thursday at the Superior Dome in Marquette and runs all weekend.
The tournament raises money every year for the Special Olympics.
Twenty-two teams from the U.P., lower Michigan, and Wisconsin will be competing this year.
The team that gets first place takes home $1,000.
"To be able to offer everything that they do for the Special Olympics athletes. It's just a great fundraiser for them. It's a fun tournament, it brings so much revenue into the community with so many teams coming from out of town," said Tournament Director Candace Sequin.
The games will run from early in the morning to late at night, Friday and Saturday, and will wrap up Sunday afternoon with the championship game.
There is no entry fee for spectators. There will be a concession stand and 50/50 with all of the proceeds going directly towards the Special Olympics.
