ISHPEMING -- Cold temperatures couldn't stop people in Ishpeming from coming out to support the ski jumpers.

The 125th Annual Ski Jumps and winter sports celebration parade marched down Main Street in Ishpeming Tuesday night.

Ski jumpers and their families say that they appreciate seeing a community that comes out to support the athletes.

"It's a great thing to see, and usually out at the hill, they get a good crowd, so it's a really fun event. The skiers love to have the people watch them, and the town is very supportive," said ski jumping fan, Karyl Loomis.

The parade ended at the statue of Old Ish and was followed by a spaghetti dinner held at the Elks Lodge.

The Suicide Hill ski jumping tournament is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday and will conclude with a fireworks display around 8 p.m.
