Congressman Benishek introduced legislation to honor James Priestap

IRON MOUNTAIN -- Congressman Dan Benishek has introduced legislation to honor a soldier from Dickinson County who was killed in action.

The legislation calls for naming the circle drive at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain after Sgt. First Class James Priestap.

The Foster City man was killed in Iraq on Thanksgiving day in 2006.

Priestap was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.  He graduated from North Dickinson High School in 1985.

Priestap also used to work as an officer at the VA and the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department.
