MARQUETTE -- We're featuring emerging leaders within our local communities.

Since it opened in December 2010, the Blackrocks Brewery in Marquette has served as more than just a micro-brewery.

The business and its founders, Andy Langlois and David Manson, have had a particular impact in sports throughout Marquette County. They have made several donations to the Noquemanon Trail Network, which they say has had an impact on them.

"So many people from out of town, and they come and visit places like ours and go to the hotels and eat at the restaurants. It kind of reaffirms why we live here," said Langlois.

"There's also a certain sense of community growth that comes with our business. There's people that met together here, and it becomes a real public house," added Manson.

Aside from the NTN, the owners have been active in the Superior Watershed Partnership and the Lake Superior Youth Theater.
