MARQUETTE -- The Starlight Six is as unique as it gets. They're six members who come from all around the music scene and have finally come together through the Earthworks Music Collective.
The Hiawatha Music Co-op in Marquette, which focuses on traditional American acoustic artists, has booked them for a show Friday.
When the co-op spotted the Starlight Six, booking them was a no brainer.
So who are the Starlight Six? Well, Rachael Davis is a singer/songwriter who's performed several times at the Hiawatha Music Fest, put on every summer by the music co-op. Seth Bernard and May Erlewine have had successful solo careers and as a duo. Josh and Dominic Davis have performed in the immensely popular regional band "Steppin' In It." And percussionist and vocalist Michael Shimmin has made a name for himself in the Klezmer band "Red Sea Pedestrians."
"The six of them are just a wonderful combination of musicians who play a variety of different styles, including some of their own compositions," said Hiawatha Music Co-op Director, Maggie Morgan.
Their music ventures into blues, folk, rock, and country.
The Starlight Six will perform Friday night at 8 p.m. at the UpFront & Company in Marquette as a fundraiser for the Hiawatha Music Co-op.
