MARQUETTE -- Monday night, the Marquette Area Public School Board looked at two key issues.
The board addressed a new law requiring board member elections to be held on even numbered years as opposed to the current system where elections are held every November.
The board also heard a presentation of budget assumptions for the next fiscal year.
"At our February 13th board meeting, we'll hear from administration what our expected costs are if we do nothing for next year. Tonight we learned what our revenues are, and when we compare those two, we'll have a range of expected reductions that the district will need to make," said MAPS Board President Scott Brogan.
After the board has a clearer picture of the budget, they expressed the need to have public input on the upcoming budget issues and discussed the possibility of holding a town hall meeting.
