Latest news, weather, high school sports for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

MARQUETTE -- When people think winter sports in the U.P., skiing and snowshoeing are among the first to come to mind, but there's one sport that is becoming more and more popular.

That sport is snow biking. The Noquemanon Ski Marathon next weekend has added a snow bike race to its list of events. The Noquemanon World Championship snow bike 25K will be next Sunday.

But even if you're not competing, some say that snow biking is just an excellent way to exercise and have fun.

"It's really fun to get out and ride in the winter. It's an alternative to skiing or snowshoeing, your normal, typical winter sports," said Jeff Stasser, co-owner of Downwind Sports.
