KINGSFORD -- Kingsford is hoping to receive a grant to resurface some of their tennis courts next year.  The courts at Lodal Park are over 40 years old. They have become cracked, and the ball can bounce in odd directions when it strikes the court.

The city estimates that it will cost about $45,000 to fix the courts at Lodal Park, and if they receive the recreation passport grant from the state, then they'll have to come up with 25 percent of the cost of the project.

“The asphalt is to the point where it needs to be replaced, and the cost of that is quite a bit,” said Tony Edlebeck.

Kingsford High School would like to host tennis tournaments eventually, but at this point cannot do so because of the condition of the courts.
