MARQUETTE COUNTY -- The Upper Peninsula Becoming an Outdoors Woman program is planning its 12th annual winter workshop.
The BOW winter workshop is organized through the Department of Natural Resources. It takes place at the Big Bay Health Camp.
The event is an opportunity for women to introduce themselves to new winter activities and sports. The workshop offers more than a dozen classes to hone your skills. Some classes are based outdoors, like snowshoeing or dog sledding, including a new one this year, back country skiing.
There are some indoor activities, too, such as wood burning and wilderness first aid.
"There's lots of variety, both indoor and outdoor activities, for some that might think it's too cold up here," said UPBOW Coordinator Sharon Pitz. "It's not. We'll keep you nice and warm and feed you well, but we try and get them outside as much as possible, and there's lots of hands-on activities."
The workshop will be the weekend of February 24 through 26, and registration is first come, first serve.
