IRON MOUNTAIN -- A Republican running for U.S. Senate took his campaign to Iron Mountain Tuesday.

Peter Konetchy is a businessman from downstate Roscommon. He calls himself a constitutional conservative who wants to cut federal spending, cut taxes, and have a limited government.

He believes the government has its hand in too many ventures, such as working toward green energy.

"Since 1930, the government's been taking all this money out of the private sector and redistributing it as it's deemed proper," said Konetchy.  "And now we're on the verge of economic and financial collapse, strictly because of government policies, and I'm tired of it and I want the free market to get back in control."

Konetchy is running against Senator Debbie Stabenow.
