MARQUETTE -- Karate is a fun activity for the whole family at the Marquette YMCA. For more than two years, families have come to practice karate together at the YMCA. The class practices Korean karate, or Tang Soo Do, as a part of the American Tang Soo Do Association. The program was started by Master Joyce Tredeau with the help of some local families.

The Seppala family has been with the program since the beginning, and they think practicing karate as a family is a very fun and rewarding experience.

"They learn a lot of discipline and how to act accordingly, how to follow the rules, and, at the same time, we're having fun with moving our body and exercise," said Brad Seppala.

Classes are held every Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.  All families are welcome, but children should be at least four years old.
