Fatal snowmobile crash under investigation

WATERSMEET TOWNSHIP -- A snowmobile crash in Gogebic County has claimed the life of a Wisconsin man.

The Gogebic County Sheriff's Department reports that the accident happened at 7:10 p.m. Central time Thursday on the Cisco Chain of Lakes in Watersmeet Township.

Patrick B. Sheahan, 45, of Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin, was traveling south through the channel when the snowmobile he was driving hit a tree. Sheahan was killed.

It is believed speed and poor visibility are contributing factors.

The crash remains under investigation as toxicology reports are pending.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Police Department, Watersmeet Fire Responders, Vilas County Sheriff's Department, Conover Ambulance, Land O' Lakes First Responders/Ambulance and the owner of the Cisco Lake Resort.
