ESCANABA -- A 2.1 million dollar reconstruction project on Stephenson Avenue in Escanaba is wrapping up after almost two years of work.
It's about a nine-block stretch that had cracked sidewalks and crumbling curbs. The roadwork, curbing, sidewalk, and water work was done during the summer of 2010.
Linemen have been finishing up the new light poles, removing open wire, and replacing it with spacer cable.
Improvements were also made on the light spots and dark spots on the street.
"No, it hurts you because if you're in a bright spot, you can't see into the dark spot as well, whereas if it's more uniform. Yeah, it's always good to get a project done. There's always the next one waiting," said Escanaba Electric Superintendent, Mike Furmanski.
The project is expected to be completed sometime this spring.
