The Pretentious Jacks have rocked the city of Marquette for the past four years.
Since they began in 2008, the four member band harnessed its home-grown talent, paving their own way forward through the local music scene.
"We do a lot of original music, we like to conveniently work in our originals with the covers," explained Cameron Leedle, a band member. "Everything from classic rock to our own kind of spin on contemporary music."
So far the band says the community has embraced their style.
"We get people going up to the camera bobbing, and so it's a good crowd here. I wish we had more chances to play," said Dennis Farney, a band member.
"In the Blue Lounge we try to showcase and find local talent," said Jason Ghiardi, owner of the Blue Lounge.
The Blue Lounge on Washington Street is one of the Marquette venues giving up-and-coming bands, like the Pretentious Jacks, a shot at a local audience.
"There's not a lot of venues for everybody to play in so if you're playing once a month, then they'll let their friends know on their Facebook page also," Ghiardi said.
The Pretentious Jacks are looking for ways to expand their home-grown talent using social media sites like Facebook. If you log on to their Facebook page, you'll find a link to their iTunes account and a sample of their work.
To see the band perform live, head to the Blue Lounge on January 14 at 10 p.m.
