ESCANABA -- Escanaba High School is preparing to challenge its teens to break down barriers, reduce bullying, and learn peaceful conflict resolutions.
Officials and community members are hoping to bring the national program, 'Challenge Day,' to Escanaba this fall.
During the three-day workshop, students will open up to each other and take part in activities and discussions.
It will cost $12,500 to bring Challenge Day to Escanaba. So far, $7,300 has been raised.
"The students will break down barriers. We'll try to decrease the cliques and the bullying, whether it's between color, race, sex, age, or even socio-economical status," said teacher Holly Stammer.
Challenge Day will occur in a controlled environment with counselors and professionals to help students during the process of opening up to each other.
