MARQUETTE -- Registration is underway for the Noquemanon Ski Marathon set to take place on Saturday, January 28.

Nicole Dewald, the race coordinator, says that registration numbers are up this year due to a cap that has been placed on the number of racers.

As of Wednesday, almost 1,000 racers had signed up, but Dewald wants everybody to know they still need help to ensure the race runs smoothly.

"What's really great about our race is the community support," said Dewald.  "So we are still looking for volunteers, so if anyone really loves kids, we're always looking for volunteers up at the Forestville Trailhead for the Jr. Noquemanon race. We're also looking for people at the start and finishes of the big race."

Registration for the race will be open until Wednesday, January 25, at midnight.

Dewald says the mild winter doesn't have her concerned.
