HOUGHTON -- The Keweenaw Brewing Company is currently in the process of expanding their whole sale facility in South Range.
Construction began about a month ago, and now the roof is being added to the building.
KBC says they're simply running out of room and need more space so they can move their operations into the new building. This addition will also give them more storage space and allow them to load distribution trucks inside which makes it easier during the winter.
"Primarily, our business is a manufacturer of beer, and we have a small Taproom and then this wholesale market," said co-owner Richard Gray. "That's what expands the most and the fastest, and in order to accommodate that growth, we need to grow our facility."
KBC started in 2004 and they've grown from 460 barrels to 6,800 this year, and they're the fifth largest wholesale provider for Michigan sales.
The Taproom is located downtown Houghton, and this spring they're hoping to introduce a brand new ale.
