Former corrections officer sentenced on drug charges

MACKINAC COUNTY -- A former corrections officer was sentenced on drug charges on Friday.

Matthew Leonard Bell was a corrections officer in Naubinway at the time of his arrest in September of 2011.

Bell plead guilty to one count possession with intent to deliver heroin less than 50 grams, a count of possession of heroin less than 25 grams, and a count of maintaining a drug house.

Bell was sentenced to 10 months in the Mackinac County Jail along with 24 months of probation.
