MARQUETTE -- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is making it easier and less expensive for you to visit state parks and to enjoy 800 Michigan businesses at a reduced price.

Whenever you go to renew your driver's license, they'll ask you if you want to purchase a recreation pass through the DNR.  The pass is $10 and lets you visit all state parks, recreation areas, and boat launches.

Buying the pass has other perks, too.

The DNR offers "Pass Perks" which are discounts at participating  businesses.

"One thing that's really neat about the "Passport Perks" is that you spend ten dollars on a recreation passport, but if you're taking advantage of the perks, you're going to make well more than that back throughout the year, so you're actually going to probably make money off of it rather than spending money," said DNR Representative, Debbie Munson-Badini.

There are 130 places in the U.P. that are participating in the offer.
