CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- An Alger County man is hospitalized and still in serious condition Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle on M-28 in Chocolay Township early Monday morning.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say 46-year-old Timothy Hardwick of Christmas was walking east near Timber Lane when a pickup truck, driven by Robert Collins, struck him.

According to investigators, Hardwick's heavy alcohol consumption plus limited visibility from the snow storm caused the accident.

Hardwick is at Marquette General Hospital.

The driver of the pickup was not injured.

The Marquette City Police and Chocolay Township Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
