Snowmobile mishap injures one

ELM RIVER TOWNSHIP -- A Wisconsin woman is hospitalized after a snowmobile accident in Houghton County. It happened at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday morning in Elm River Township.

The Houghton County Sheriff's Department reports the crash took place on Trail #3, in Twin Lakes.

 


The 37-year-old Walworth, Wisconsin woman was southbound on the trail, when her sled left the trail and hit a tree. She was taken to Portage Health by Mercy Ambulance for treatment. Her current condition has not been released.

Speed is a believed to be a contributing factor in the accident.

The Houghton County Sheriff's Department was assisted by Adams Township First Responders and Twin Lakes Fire Department.
