IRON MOUNTAIN -- Tis' the season for New Year's resolutions. And one of the more popular resolutions is to get in shape and stay in shape. Gyms across the country see a spike in business this time of year.
Experts say some people may feel motivated for the next few weeks, however, shortly after, they seem to lose that motivation, as David Anderson, owner of Total Health and Fitness in Iron Mountain, explains.
“One thing I like to see people do is when they join up, a lot of them they just buy their memberships, then all of a sudden they're good for a couple weeks and they kind of, the novelty wears out and all of a sudden they quit working out,” says Anderson. “I like to see people buy a membership and stay with it. That's long-term stuff.”
Quitting smoking, going to the gym, and losing weight are all things that people seem to lose motivation for. Experts say find a resolution buddy, that way you can push each other to not give up on your goal.
