It's open to anyone, Christmas Day, from 11:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. in Ishpeming.
ISHPEMING -- If you'd like the company of your community for Christmas, you can stop by the Ishpeming Elks Club on Sunday. Preparations are underway for the annual community Christmas dinner at the club, sponsored by the Bell Foundation.
Last year, volunteers served about 200 meals, and they hope to reach that number again this year. Among the Christmas favorites: turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes, pie and eggnog. Students from Aspen Ridge School helped make the setting more festive with holiday placemats and centerpieces.
It takes about 25 volunteers to put the dinner together.
"We have people that come and eat that certainly have the means to support themselves, but they want to come and have some fellowship on Christmas day," Coordinator David Aro said.
"This isn't meant to be a charity Christmas dinner, it's meant to be a Christmas dinner for the community so that you don't have to be alone at Christmas."
If you're free, you can stop by anytime between 11:30 and 2 p.m.
