MARQUETTE -- He's only 18 years old, but he's ready to change the medical world. But he needs your help to do it.

Joel Florek, a Marquette native attending Michigan Tech University, is competing in this year's Intel Innovator's competition.

It's a Facebook-based contest aimed at giving up-and-coming entrepreneurs a chance to shine.

Florek's business, Asfalis Med, is a mobile app aimed at revolutionizing the medical industry.

"We're trying to create a way for medical personnel to safely and quicker access pertinent information," said Florek.

The competition is currently in the investment round, which runs until January 23.
